I was playing at a packed club on the stage. I was also debuting my “No Requests” sticker on my laptop. At the time, I was playing the Cosmo Baker mashup of “Bird Machine” by DJ Snake and “Blow The Whistle by Too Short. An African American woman came up on the stage and stood right next to me. She had some balls to just go up to a stage. Anyways, I look at her and gave her the “what do you want” head nod. She said the word “black”, but I couldn’t really hear her cause I had my earbuds on. After a 3rd attempt, she pointed to the sleeve of my shirt (which happened to be black). I asked her what she meant by “black”. She said she wanted to hear black music. I guess Too Short wasn’t “black” enough for her.
