DJ C.A. began his DJ career in 1993. When he had learned that his father had been a part time DJ & had some old turntables in the closet. C.A. decided to dust them off & start buying records...just to see if he had the knack. Turns out mixing came natural to him. He would go to night clubs in Los Angeles to watch other DJs & ask questions on how to mix. DJs that were helpful to him were Tha Baka Boys, DJ Enrie Tony B, St. John & Big Boy.
 
He started DJing small parties & weddings. The record collection started to grow & the passion started to build. Entertaining people was exciting. Thanks to his Mother, listening to Disco, 80's soft rock & dance music throughout his childhood, C.A. had a wide range of music he had been exposed to. C.A. also liked to dance. This he believes gave him a unique advantage compared to other DJs.He knew what records should follow each other to keep a consistent flow. He was right. He was often complimented on his music selection & gained more and more confidence.
 
In 1994, he visited the Palace in Hollywood. They had open auditions so he applied. He played his set for the resident DJ & was told "we'll keep in touch". A few weeks later C.A. was contacted to fill in on their KROQ Night in the V.I.P. room. The DJ was taking a 4 week vacation. The format was Disco & 80s. But C.A. had other ideas. He thought the crowd was craving a different kind of sound. So he played Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae & some House music instead. There was no microphone in that room, so C.A. discovered another way to get responses from the crowd. He would lower the music on certain parts of songs so that the crowd would sing the songs while on the dance floor. This was tactic that he had seen at a concert, but never seen in a night club. In this regard, C.A. had set a new standard. To make a long story short DJ C.A. remained the DJ in that V.I.P. room for 7 consecutive years & created Hollywood's first Hip Hop room. Today, this may be hard to believe, but there were no rooms that played Hip Hop music as the majority.
 
As C.A.'s popularity began to grow, he was given an opportunity to contribute to another night for the Hollywood Palace. A Hip Hop night in the Main room with the Baka Boys, from the local radio station as Hosts. The night had taken place every Thursday Night & drew up to 1,800 people some weeks. Which was unheard of on a week night. C.A. started to be an asset to record companies because he had the ear of many people. As a result, he had gained their respect & they in return would send the records directly to his home to make sure he was playing the new music first...sometimes even before the radio would play them.
 
C.A. began to get offers to DJ in other clubs in L.A. So he started playing in night clubs all over Los Angeles, San Bernadino & Ventura Counties. Promoters in Baja Mexico had also invited C.A. to DJ for holiday weekends with full expenses paid. All this time staying loyal to the Hollywood Palace, never conflicting with his established nights. A few years later he got an opportunity to DJ in Las Vegas. Back then there were only about 5 or 6 Night Clubs in the Major Hotels. One of them was called RA inside the Luxor. C.A. landed a bi-weekly commitment to perform with full expenses paid. C.A played there until RA was changed to LAX some years later.
 
In 2006, C.A. was given an opportunity when an international company asked him to do music playback for their shows around the world. This was new to C.A. It didn't require him to perform a DJ set, basically just play walk in/walk out music & walk on music for hosts. In a creative meeting, the company was looking for new ideas to entertain their crowd during these sometimes 10 hour shows & meetings. C.A. mentioned that he could DJ a set on stage. The company thought it couldn't hurt to try it for their calendar year. To this day, DJ C.A. has been to 18 countries on 4 different Continents in the past 4 years with the same company playing his sets to entertain & energize crowds as large as 20,000 attendees.
 
 
Thanks to his gift to recognize what music people will respond to, DJing has taken C.A. to a level many wish to achieve. Due to new technology, C.A. is able to play all kinds of music. His music library is filled with more types of music than you can imagine. And he knows where and how to use it.
